Scott was home for a few days for his 10th year reunion. Well, actually he didn't come home specifically for it, but he was here during that weekedn, so he managed to visit a few friends. He will be most annoyed when he sees that I have posted this here...but what are mothers for, if not to annoy? That's him in the middle, in white, with...what?? A BEER???

We had a huge windstorm the other day and today when we went for our walk we saw this tree that had been blown over and I was amazed that it had fallen right in between these other 2 trees. Now really, what are the chances of that??

Lately as we walk in the bush we see a lot of female deer. They stand their ground and stare at us and oftentimes they will stamp their feet and snort. This means they are warning us away. It's that time of year when they are having their babies, and while we haven't seen a baby yet, this morning Steven spotted this precious, tiny hoofprint, no bigger than his thumbnail. You can just see mom's hoofprint in the upper left corner. We must have just missed them as mom's has filled with water, but the others were still dry.

Family Ties

I am an only child. Me, my Mom,my Dad and occasionally a dog. I am not used to noise and large families...just look at what I married into...and this is only a part of them!!

I gotta say...they make me laugh, hysterically at times, and I love them to death, even when I'm not sure who belongs to who.
Just the Drakes...

So obedient

Silly beast. I tossed this blanket over her and said:"Stay!" and of 7 minutes ago she was still sitting there. I guess I had better go and tell her: "OK" before I leave for work...

I think what I did wrong before, with uploading (or downloading, or whatever it is) was that I did one picture at a time, from Picassa, and each picture opened up a new window to my Blog, and maybe...umm..well, I don't really know, but maybe that had something to do with it. I think these 3 should all be there, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I just realized that with the ones that didn't turn up, the caption that said "Sam comes by to say goodnight with a snort and a huff" that you probably didn't realize that Sam was a horse! The have 3 horses who wandered around the place, and to my surprise ( and a little horror) I had no idea that horses could be so...ummm, how to delicate?, "gassy". Ok, what the hell, I now know that Horse Farts are something to be feared. I was quite pleased that Sam was leaving us for the comfort of his shed.
And this is Sam, coming to say goodnight.

The Saloon

Friends of ours have a lovely piece of property just outside of town, and they recently (well, last yeaR) converted an old, small barn into a "saloon". At first it was just a spot to sit and have a rest, but eventually it turned into an actual miniature saloon. There is a tiny bar with a set of shelves behind it that hold a few glasses, bottles openers and other items related to bartending, as well as a few bottles of booze! There is a small sitting area with room for one tiny table, and outside is a wooden patio, with a wee bit of boardwalk. It's just SO cute! Anyhow, last night was the "official summer opening" of the saloon, with a Mexican theme. Mexican drinks, Mexican food and Mexican music was enjoyed by all! (the girls were home to get ready for the Nakusp Music Festival. They are a band, called Lillix, who you can google if you are interested.)
The Saloon. The left hand "open" side is The Saloon. The right hand side where you see a door is The Bunny Barn, where the girls raise rabbits, the cutest rabbits I have ever seen...Lop Earred rabbits and Lion faced ones...just so tiny and sweet. They have a large fenced area outside as well.

Lacey and a friend....mmmm...Mexican food and Waffle Cones to cool the burn afterwards!
Sam came over to say goodnight with a huff and a snort.
As we sat around the fire and watched the sun go down, I breathed in the mountain air and thought with great satisfaction: "Another day in paradise." The tequila may have had me a little happier than I normally would have been, due to the unexpected onslaught of mosquito's, but in hindsight, what's a bug bite when you can look at this sunset?
