Silence

I am a huge proponent of silence. I am always telling people to "turn it down" or more often "turn it off". I get up in the morning and never turn on a radio or TV, and if I am alone for a few days, sometimes I never hear another human voice. Which I enjoy; I don't know if that makes me strange or normal, but I would rather hear nothing than something, especially when the "something" is sensless gibberish. I wonder why more people can't be together without always trying to "fill the silence." Scott tells me I have "eagle ears" because I can hear the slightest noise, and it usually annoys me...a lot. To me, silence really is golden. This tree is a nice spot that Steven and I found on one of our walks, it overlooks one of the 5 alkali lakes behind our house, and I have wandered up there a few times and just sat under the tree and listened to the wind. It's the best medicine for stress, I highly recommend it!

Dogs

Beautiful big Chino...head like a melon and not much more than a melon's contents inside.

The coastal weather must be good for Gypsy...she looks thinner and younger! Maybe I should move there?

Below you will find a few pictures that I took on our little family jaunt to Fort Steele the other day. We had a flock of family here for a week, nieces and nephews galore, it was SO wonderful!

I have a friend who blogs and she always leaves a most appropriate quote at the end of each new post, so Linda, you may have noticed that I am stealing your idea, I think it's great!

~One must be a wise reader to quote wisely and well.

Hoping to make a quick fortune with a giant nugget of gold. As you can see from the look of disapointment, this did not happen, but they tried!

My nephew, who is very technologically advanced, could not figure out the old-fashioned technology of "the swing" much to his sisters (and our) great amusement.

And yet another niece and nephew.

~Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.

A scorching hot day at Fort Steele. Not a cloud in the sky.

The home of the Clydesdales, they were out "making hay while the sun shines." Literally. They were helping make bales, poor beasts, in that heat.

I just love this picture, gorgeous 9 year old Jade, my niece, peeking through the windows of the old NWMP barracks.
