Just a picture of our house, and my "flower garden". Don't laugh, for someone who has never planted a flower seed before, I am rather proud of my sunflowers. However, what do I do with them come winter? Pull them out? Cut them back? Anyone? Anyone?

It's a cold and chilly day today. A harbinger of the days to come? I hope not, I was planning on a nice Indian Summer to ease my way into winter weather. But today I saw gray skies and felt a bitter north wind. The dog was feeling the change in the air too, as she ran like a fool through the bush today, I think the wind excites them. However this Friday is supposed to be 31C, a "hoorah!" to the last long weekend of the summer. Hard to believe that Sept. is here already.
This is Gypsy's new spot to sleep. I think she figures that if she stays at the halfway mark on the stairs then we will surely see her as we leave the house and thus take her with us.

Finally, here is the deer picture.

I guess the flowers are a special treat. We got within 5 feet of this beauty and he didn't even blink an eye. After snacking on petunias he and his buddy wandered over to Steven's hunting camper (how ironic!) and then meandered back to the bush for an afternoon snooze.

Well, you'll see there is no picture. I can't seem to download anything today. I think it's the blog site itslef, so I'll try again tomorrow.

The inside of the Old Bunny Barn Saloon...what fun!

Can I come in too?
Friends of ours just turned their old barn into a "saloon". It's the most peaceful place to go and relax. We sit on the deck in the evening with a glass of wine (or a beer) and watch the moon rise and the deer tentatively peek their heads through the trees and try to get brave enough to come and steal some of the horses feed. It's quiet and serene and wonderful.

The picture didn't turn out crisp or clear, but you can see how the moon is blood red. It's hazy because of all the smoke, and red becuase of all the fires. It's a very creepy sort of scene. One fully expects to hear the howl of wolves (or werewolves?) in the background.

Now I have to confess that I don't know this dog, but isn't this the BEST picture??

Finally we have had some rain. And thunder and lightening. And hail and wind. Last night there was a massive storm, with a clap of thunder that rolled on for so long that the plates on the wall actually vibrated. I woke up to find Gypsy staring into eyes, pretending to not be fearful of the noise, but she snuggled down between us without even being invited!

It is cool and overcast today, so I can spend some time in the house and perhaps get rid of the accumulation of dust. It has just been too hot up until now to spend more than a minute inside.
