A Rare Sight

I do not often break out the needles and thread, as a matter of fact the last time was probably years ago. Today however, take note that I hemmed 2 pair of pants and I am so amazed at myself that I have posted this to share with everyone!

Well done! It is such a good feeling of accomplishment isn't it? I was finally able to bring back my sewing machine last trip home, how I had missed that baby!!! All I intend to use it for is mending and hemming, though I recall in days of yore I sewed up most my own wardrobe! Does anyone still do this or is it a lost art?

californiamama, I think many young people still make some of their clothes, especially "special" clothes. The 30 year old daughter of a friend of mine, makes most of her 'evening' clothes. I'm talking school graduation, bridesmaid, those sort of 'special evening' frocks.
I used to make my clothes, many eons ago but was never as adventurous as my friends daughter.
One of my daughter-in-laws mother & sister also make many of their own clothes.
They also make clothesto sell at a local market, every few weeks.
