India...some vehicular tidbits.

I found the trucks and traffic in India to be quite fascinating. These decorated beauties cruise down the highways with no regard for oncoming vehicles or even for one-way streets. We'd often see a "Goods Carrier" coming towards us, wrong way on a one way highway. A polite and shrill "beep, beep, beep" lets everyone know to watch out....someone is passing or someone is beside you, possibly in the wrong lane and going the wrong way, and most assuredly in your blind spot. And our driver had no qualms about going the wrong way on the freeway either. It was very bizarre. I didn't know whether to enjoy the view or close my eyes and try to not hyperventilate.

Because these trucks are usually owned by an individual family, they are loved and lavishly decorated since they're not only a home-away-from-home for the driver, the vehicle is a family's livelihood as well, and is thus taken care very well, painted up and treated like "the other lady of the house" which is why some trucks have eyes and jewelry painted on them.

Note the "Horn please" written in the colours of the Indian flag.
A lot of them also remind you to "use dippers at night",
which is their term for low beams.

For sure, Life is Game....I guess...

I'm not sure what "wait for side" means, but this truck seems to be
carrying dangerous goods, so I'd wait for both sides.

Not only does there seem to be no issue as to where and how you drive, there is also apparently no issue with how much cargo you can pile on your truck.

These kinds of loads were usually hay that was being taken to feed the stray cows.

Seriously! Can you believe it?

A lot of the trucks have a black string of Pom-poms attached to the grills and rear view mirrors, those are to keep evil away from the trucks. I bought some myself, so if you see me driving the wrong way down the highway, with black dingle-balls waving in the breeze, be not concerned, no evil will come my way.
